Candidates are required to give detailed statement of their property before nomination because of the following:
- So that the Election Commission can prevent him from misusing his power of money in elections.
- It helps to keep a check on the person in acquiring property later by unfair means.
- It gives people an opportunity to make their decision/choices based on the information provided to them.
