Answer:
Sugarcane industry is located near the sugarcane growing regions because the sucrose content (juice) of the harvested sugarcane starts drying up within hours of its harvesting. Thus sugarcane has to be delivered quickly to the mills. Moreover, sugarcane is a bulky raw materials and hence transportation cost can be substantially reduced if sugar mills are located close to sugarcane fields.
