Why are potatoes cultivated through tubers and not seeds?

Potatoes are cultivated through its tubers. It is a much cheaper and an easier method of propagation. Many plantlets are produced from a tuber. However, cultivation of potatoes through seeds takes a lot of time and is also more expensive.
