The density is the ratio of the mass of the body that holds to the volume occupied by that body.
Amongst the three states of matter,
- The solids have maximum density. (The solids hold higher mass per volume that they occupy)
- The liquids have medium density. (The liquids hold comparitively lesser mass per volume that they occupy)
- Gases have the least density. (The mass that the gases hold is very less as compared to the volume they occupy)
