Bhakti saints were reformers who criticised the caste system and rituals. They believed in the concepts of equality and universal brotherhood. Their teachings profoundly influenced the people. Teachings of the Bhakti saints:
- There is only one God and all people are equal in the eyes of God.
- One can attain God not through rites and rituals but through love and devotion.
- Everyone should live a pure and simple life.
