Major industries of India during the Sultanate period were manufacturing and dyeing of cotton, silk and wool. Metal and sugar industries, shoe making and the making of perfumes were some other industries.
Every industry or trading profession had a guild system. Besides shops, articles were generally sold at a fair or a common market.
