 The mode of propagation used by short wave broadcast services having frquency range from a few MHz upto 30 MHz is skywave propagation.

Space wave propagation: When the radiowaves from the transmitting antenna reach the receiving antenna either directly or after reflection from the ground or in troposphere, the wave propagation is called space wave propagation.

In ground wave propagation, the energy of the signal is absorbed by earth.The loss of energy increases with increase in the frequency of the signal.For this reason the ground waves are restricted upto a frequency of 1500 kHz.
