Expert Answer
Displacement x of simple harmonic oscillator is given by , x = a sin(ωt+φ) .........................(1)
where a is amplitude, ω is angular frequency, t is time and φ is initial phase angle.
when displacement x = a/2, (ωt+φ) = π/6
velocity v of simple harmonic oscillator is given by, dx/dt = aω cos(ωt+φ) .......................(2)
maximum velocity , vmax = aω .........................(3)
velocity va/2 , when displacement is half of amplitude = aω√3/2 ..........................(4)
from eqn.(3) and (4), we get ratio of required kinetic energies = 3/4
