When Nitrate ion reacts with con. H2SO4, does it produce Nitrogen dioxide?

Concentrated sulphuric acid is a strong dehydrating agent, it removes water from the nitrate salt and the following reaction occurs,
This reaction converts the nitrate into nitric acid, with the help of distillation we can get very pure nitric acid.
