We know,

Vimage  = m2 Vobject

Vimage = Velocity of image
Vobject = Velocity of object

So when the object is moving towards the convex mirror (mirror of vehicle used is rear view mirror) its magnification increases. As the magnification increases, the sqaure of magnification and product of it with velocity of object also increases. Thus, speed of image moving closer to stationary convex mirror appears to be increasing substantially even if the speed of object is constant.
