When a charged particle is placed in an electric field, a force acts on the particle.

This force is given as F = qE.

Now, according to Newton's second law, a force acting on a body produces acceleration in the body. This acceleration is given as

a = F/m = qE/m

The accelration so produced in the body is uniform acceleration, that is, it remains constant throughout the motion of the body.
