What would happen if the Earth stopped rotating?

Answered by Expert

If the Earth stopped rotating ,

  • The part of the Earth facing the Sun would always experience day. This will lead to constant and continuous increase in the temperature.
  • The other half of the Earth would always remain in darkness. In this half there would be a constant decrease in the temperature.
  • In both these conditions, survival of any life form would not be possible.
