It is assumed that material of plano convex lens is glass and refractive index μ=1.5
 
Focal length f1 of left side lensis given by , 
 
1/f1  = (μ-1) [ (1/R1) - (1/R2) ] = (1.5-1)×[ (1/21.2) - 0 ]   or f1 = 42.4 cm
(we considered radius of curvature R2 is infinity for planar side)
 
Similarly Focal length f2 of left side lensis given by , 
 
1/f2  =  (1.5-1)×[ (-1/21.2) - 0 ]   or f2 = -42.4 cm
 
focal length F of combination of lenses is given by,  
 
(1/F) = ( 1/f1 ) + ( 1/f2 ) - [ 2a/ (f1 f2) ] = (2×16)/(42.4×42.4)   or F ≈ 56 cm
