The Japanese made two very crucial mistakes at Pearl Harbour. Firstly, they did not destroy the ship repair facilities at the base. Secondly, they also did not destroy the US Carriers the Lexington and the Enterprise. As a result of this, most of the ships that were damaged during the attack were soon back in service.
