Expert Answer
'His majesty's government' referred to the government of Great Britain.
After independence India became a free sovereign country.
Britain could no longer interfere in the internal affairs of the country.
Lord Mountbatten remained in office as Governor -General up to June 1948.
But he had no powers.
All powers were vested into the hands of the Indian Parliament and the Prime Minister.
