What is the work of split ring?

Split rings P and Q are connected to the rotating coil in electric motor as shown in figure.
 
Each ring is semi circular shape and isolated. There is not electrical contact between them.
 
The function of the slip ring is to reverse the current direction in the coil for each half rotation,
 
so that arms AB and CD of  coil gets forces in same direction and hence the whole rotates in same direction.
 
when arm AB is near to North pole, current passes from A to B but in other arm CD, current passes from C to D.
 
If we apply Flemings left hand rule, we get downward force for arm AB and upward force for arm CD.
 
Hence coil rotates in counter clockwise direction. After half rotation, slip ring Q makes contact with brush-x
 
and slip ring P makes contact with brush-y thus reverses the current direction in coil so that
 
arm CD is now getting downward force and arm AB is getting upward force . 
 
Hence coil and axle are rotating in same direction for every half rotation of the coil

Plssss answer..... Assertion: Magnetic field lines never intersect each other. Reason: If they intersect, then at the point of intersection, the compass needle would point towards two directions, which is not possible.
