The intensity of light coming out of the slit is directly proportional to width of slit.
Hence in YDSE if I1 and I2 are the intensities of light coming from two slits S1 and S2 having width w1 and w2 and amplitude a1 and a2 respectively then,
I subscript 1 over I subscript 2 alpha begin display style w end style subscript 1 over w subscript 2
and the intensity of light is also directly proportional to square of amplitude of light wave coming from the respective slits 
rightwards double arrow I subscript 1 over I subscript 2 alpha a subscript 1 squared over a subscript 2 squared
rightwards double arrow I subscript 1 over I subscript 2 equals w subscript 1 over w subscript 2 equals a subscript 1 squared over a subscript 2 squared
