One of the purest forms of carbon is diamond. Diamond is the hardest substance known on earth and sparkles brilliantly. Although diamonds found in nature are colorless and transparent, when combined with other elements its color can range from pastels to black. Diamond is used for cutting glass and drilling hard rocks. It is also used as a gem in jewellery.
