- The ozone layer is present in the stratosphere and extends from 20 -50 km above the Earth’s surface.
- It absorbs the harmful ultra violet rays of the Sun and prevents them from reaching the surface of the Earth. Without the ozone layer, the Sun’s rays could cause skin cancer, cataract etc.
