Expert Answer
A clock either runs on a battery or some spring and gear mechanism. In any case it does not matter whether the clock is placed on Earth or in space it will run in the same fashion.
The only difference comes due to motion of the spaceship in which the clock is placed. The time shown by the clock in spaceship will be different from that on the earth because time slows down in moving frames of reference.
