What is the function of corpus lutenum?

Corpus lutenum is formed after ovulation. Ovulation is the process of release of egg from the mature follicle. The follicle after release of egg is called corpus lutenum (yellow mass). It secrets two hormone:
1. Oestrogen: it is secreted by follicle before ovulation.
2. Progesterone: It prepares uterus for receiving the embryo.
