What is the effect of solute on the surface tension of liquid ?

Expert Answer
1.If the solute is very soluble then the surface tension of liquid increases,on dissolving salt in water the surface tension increases.
2.If the solute is less soluble then the surface tension of liquid decreases,pouring soap or phenol decreases surface tension of water.
