What is the difference between fusion and fertilization?

Dear Student,
Fertilization is the process of fusion of two gametes. In animals, the process involves the fusion of an ovum with a sperm, which eventually leads to the development of an embryo.
Incase of plants, fertilization takes place between the sperm nuclei from the pollen tube and egg within the ovary.

We hope that clarifies your query.
