answered-by-expert Expert Answer
First equation of motion is given by
v = u + at
 where,
v - final velocity
u - initial velocity
a - acceleration
t - time

If a body is accelerating then 'a' is positive.
If a body is deccelerating then 'a' is negative.

This equation gives the velocity acquired by a body in time 't'.
