What is single cell protein? Give any two points of significance of such a protein?

The biomass obtained from microorganisms which can be treated or processed in the industry to be used as food for human beings is called single cell protein.

Two points of significance of single cell protein are

(i) It provides a protein-rich diet.

(ii) It helps to minimise environmental pollution.
