Iron is denser than wood. The masses of the atoms and the spacing betweeen them determine the density of materials. Density is considred as the 'lightness' or 'heaviness' of material of same size. It is the measure of the compactness of matter, of how much mass occupies a given space. Thus, iron is denser than wood (provided we consider the amounts of iron and wood to be the same).
