what is irrigation? why is it essential? how can you manage the need of it for crops?

Irrigation is the artificial method of supplying water to crops in a field. 
 
Irrigation is necessary because:
1. It allows farmers to grow different types of crops in on efield.
2. Constant avaialbility of water encourages the farmers to practise new farming methods to maximize productivity.
 
The knowledge of equipment, system design, plant species, growth stage, root structure, soil composition, and land formation are some of the parameters that can be managed to cultivate a crop. Other management include removal of weeds from the crops, pest control methods like spraying of DDT and animal pests.
