Expert Answer
Hi Atharva,
Inflammation is the immune response of tissues due to bodily injury. The body's white blood cells and substances they produce protect us from infection with foreign organisms, such as bacteria and viruses. The characteristics of inflammation include pain, heat, swelling, and redness at the site of the injury.
The presence of an excessive amount of fluid in or around cells, tissues or serous cavities of the body is called oedema.
