Expert Answer
- The cells of the basal mucosa which are composed of squamous epithelial cells are commonly thought of as cheek cells.
- They are eukaryotic cells which contain a nucleus and other organelles within enclosed in a membrane.
Function of human cheek cells:
- Since these cells are easily shed from the mouth lining, it is therefore easy to obtain them for observation.
- Structures such as nucleus, cell membrane and cytoplasm can be easily observed in the human cheek cells.
