Thermodynamics is the branch of science which studies the transformation of energy from one form to another.
Chemical thermodynamics studies the energy transformations which occur as a result of chemical reactions.

Equilibrium is a state in which no net change is occurring. Something in a state of equilibrium could be considered to be stable, balanced, or unchanging.
