what is difference bewtween function and derivatives

Function is relation between two quantities.
For example, in uniform accelerated motion in one dimension, distance S travelled as a function of time
for given initial velocity u and acceleration a is given by
S(t) = u×t +(1/2)×a×t2 ..........................(1)
function given in (1), describes how S varies with t
derivative of a function means differentiation of a function with respect to independent variable.
In the above eqn.(1), t is independent variable.
derivative of S(t) means dS/dt, ie for a small change of t (i.e. dt), what is change in S (i.e. dS)
in the above eqn.(1), as per calculus, (dS/dt) = u + a×t
