Hi Rishabh, A fraction contains two numbers, one in numerator and the other in denominator. Let us divide the numerator by the denominator by long division method. If the division continues to an never ending process, that number is a non-terminating decimal number. In this case, the remainder never becomes zero. Example: 17/23=0.7391304347826086.... If the division ends at a particular stage, then that number is a terminating decimal number. In this case the remainder is zero. Example: 5/2=2.5 In the non-terminating decimal, if the numbers in the quotient are occurring in a specific pattern, then the number is a recurring decimal number. Examples: 2/6=0.66666666666666666.... 8/11=0.727272727272..... In the non-terminating decimal, if the numbers in the quotient are unique, then that number is called a non-recurring decimal. Example: sqrt(56)=7.48331477354788277116......
