Mass of carbon is referred as an the atomic mass. Atomic mass of carbon is 12.0107 amu
But CO2 is a molecule, hence mass of this compound is referred as molecular mass instead of atomic mass.
Molecular mass is the total sum of the atomic masses of all the elements present in the molecule.
Molecular mass of CO2 the sum of the atomic masses of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms which is 44.01 u.
