1. The breakdown of glucose in the presence of oxygen is called aerobic respiration.

2. The breakdown of glucose in the absence of oxygen is called anaerobic respiration.

3. The bronchi are extensions of the windpipe that conduct air to and from the lungs.

4. Carbaminohaemoglobin is a compound of hemoglobin and carbon dioxide formed in the deoxygenated blood.

5. Oxyhaemoglobin is a bright red compound formed by the combination of haemoglobin with oxygen, present in the oxygenated blood.

6. Respiration is a process by which carbohydrates are oxidised to release energy.
