The current whose direction changes after regular intervals of time and whose magnitude also varies continuously and periodically is called alternating current (a.c.).
The amplitude of an alternating current is the peak value of the current.
The time period of a.c. is the time taken by the a.c. to go through one complete cycle of variation.
