Adaptive radiation is the evolutionary process in which different species starting from a common point in a geographical area radiate to other geographical areas. It is due to the evolution of a species and is specifically due to convergent evolution.

In convergent evolution multiple organism shares (converge) common environment and thus to survive, it changes the morphology or shows analogous organs. In adaptive radiation, organism leaves its habitat and move to a new environment. So if more than one organism leave their respective niche and arrive at a new and common environment, they have to adapt to the environment and evolve, showing convergence after radiation
