Messages of (i) afforestation and (ii) involvement of community in forest conservation
is conveyed by Amrita Devi Bishnoi Award.
India is a tropical country with seasonal rains, hence we cannot depend on rains for our daily needs. In addition the amount of ground water is decreasing due to increase in water consumption. So it is important to carry out rainwater harvesting so that rain water can be conserved for future use. Rain water harvesting recharges ground water. This in turn spreads to recharge wells and provides moisture for vegetation over a wide area.
