answered-by-expert Expert Answer
Resistance R = ρ×(l/A)  ....................(1)

where ρ is resitivity of material, l is length of wire, A is area of cross section.

When length is doubled and area is ahlved , new resistance, R' = ρ×[ 2l / (A/2) ] = 4×ρ×(l/A)..............(2)

From (1) and (2), it can be seen that new resistance is 4 times of initial value
