There are three ways of creting ststic charges.
(1) Charging by friction.
For example rubbing silk cloth with glass rod, glass rod acquires positive charges. Similarly by rubbing ebonite rod with fur, ebonite rod gets negative charge.

(2) Charging by induction.
when charged object is brought near to a neutral object, neutral object acauires opposite charge.

(3) Charging by conduction:-
This method of charging, i feel, related to this question 'Electrostatic conduction'.
unlike charging by induction, in the process of charging by conduction, charged object is made in contact with the neutral object. For example, if a positvely charged object is touched a neutral object, then some electron from neutral object will flow to the positively charged object. This makes the neutral object acquires some positive charge and the original charged object loses some positive charge due to flow of electrons.
