What do you mean by cancellation of debenture assuming that co. Have sufficient debenture redemption on reserve.

Debentures can be purchased from open market for teh following 2 purposes:

1. For the purpose of cancellation: When the company do not want to keep that debenture anymore then it may cancel that purchased debentures after passing necessary  Board resolution by the directors to this effect.

2. For the purpose of investment: It is not necessary for a company to immediately cancel its own purchased debentures. When a company has surplus funds, instead of investing these fund in the securities of other companies, it buys its own debentures as investment.

A realised the assets as follows: - Full amount from Sundry Debtors and except from one for 2,OOO being insolvent. Stock realised e 52,000,; Shares in D.C.M. were sold for 60 each D_C.M. were sold for each. 2. Half the trade creditors accepted plant and machinery at an agreed valuation of 10% less than the book value and cash of 7000 in full settlement of claims. 3. Remaining creditors were paid off at a discount of 10%. Expenses of realisation amounted to Rs. 700. 4. One quarter's tax amounting to 1500 was due and had to be paid 5.
