Forced Vibrations in a body occurs due to external applied force. The frequencies associated with the body under forced vibration are:
  • Natural Frequency: It is the frequency at which a body or a system oscillates when it is not subjected to a continuous or a repeated external force.
  • Impressed Frequency : The frequency at which the body oscillates when subjected to an external force.
When these two frequencies are equal, vibration reaches the point of maximum apmlitude and this is called Resonance. A very loud sound may be heard during the resonance.
