Various functions of the state legislature are:
- Both the Houses are allowed to make laws on the subjects included in the State and Concurrent List.
- It exercises control over the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers. Also, to keep a check on the working of the executive, they ask them questions regarding the policies.
- If there is an urgent matter to be discussed, the State Legislature can move an adjournment motion.
- It also participates in the election of the President and the election of the members of the Rajya Sabha.
- Vidhan Sabha passes the annual budget. The approval by the Vidhan Parishad is only a constitutional formality. Money bills is introduced only in the Legislative Assembly.
