What are erythrocytes, leucocytes, thrombocytes?

- Erythrocytes or Red Blood Cells (RBCs) are minute, disc-like structures proudced in the bone marrow. They carry oxygen to different parts of the body.
- Leucocytes or White Blood Cells (WBCs) are amoeboid cells produced in the bone marrow, lymph nodes and sometimes even in the liver and spleen. They help in defense mechanism of the body by producing antibodies which kill or neutralise germs.
- Thrombocytes or blood platelets are minute, oval or round, non-nucleated structures floating in the blood. Thye play an important role in blood clotting.
