Epithelial tissues are covering or protective tissues. The cells of this tissue are tightly packed and forms a continuous sheet. They lie on a basement membrane. Epithelial tissue may be simple or stratified. There are different types of epithelium which are squamous, columnar, ciliated, cuboidal and glandular. The location, structure and function of these epithelia differ from each other.
