Expert Answer
Dear Vatsal,
Developed coal fields are those coalfields which have been surveyed, and their quantity and quality have been defined and determined for the purpose of utilising the resources. In the developed coalfields, the extraction of coal actually takes place.
Those coal fields in which the coal is not actually extracted but is likely to be extracted in future is known as reserve coalfields. These coalfields are classified as reserves as they are to be used for meeting the future requirements.
