Arunachal Pradesh is located in the inaccessible parts of northeast India. It is a mountainous region with rugged terrain. Some of the areas of the state are located in the upper Himalayas which has tundra climate and hence is not habited by humans. The state does not have flat land to support a high population density.
Uttar Pradesh is located in the fertile plains of northern India. Fertile soil with good rainfall support extensive agricultural activities. Due to the flat plains, the development of various infrastructural facilities such as transport and communication has also led to the development of various industries in the state. All these reasons have resulted in the growth of a high population density in Uttar Pradesh.
Therefore, Uttar Pradesh has a high population density, while Arunachal Pradesh has a low population density.
