Expert Answer
Jalaluddin Khilji was a mild and pious ruler. He forgave rebellious nobles and took no steps to strengthen the position of the king. This resulted in lawlessness, revolts and disorder. Alauddin Khilji, the nephew of the king, took advantage of the situation. He bribed the nobles and treacherously murdered him. Alauddin then ascended the throne of Delhi after blinding or killing the successor of Jalaluddin.
