Two ropes, one 8m long and the other 12m long are to be cut into pieces of the same length. What will the maximum possible length of each piece be ?

Two ropes of length 8m and 12 m long are to be cut into pieces 
Maximum possible length = HCF of length of the ropes
HCF(8, 12) = 4
Hence, the maximum possible length of each piece must be 4 m.
