Train starting from rest attains a velocity of 70 km/h in 10 minutes. Assuming that the acceleration is uniform, find the acceleration and the distance travelled by the train while it attained this velocity.

(train starts from rest); v = 70 km/h = 19.44 m/s; time, t = 10 m = 10 x 60 = 600 seconds
Use first equation of motion: v = u+at
Use third equation of motion
Putting the values of u, v and a in above equation, we get
