Let AD = h be the height of the baloon above the ground.
Let B and C be the point of observations.
BC =  1 km then CD = x km and DB = 1 - x
angle ACD = 60° and angle ABD = 45°
In triangel ADC,
begin mathsize 16px style tan 60 degree equals AD over CD equals straight h over straight x
square root of 3 equals straight h over straight x
straight x equals fraction numerator straight h over denominator square root of 3 end fraction....... left parenthesis straight i right parenthesis
In space increment ADC
tan 45 degree equals AD over DB equals fraction numerator straight h over denominator 1 minus straight x end fraction
1 equals fraction numerator straight h over denominator 1 minus straight x end fraction
straight h equals 1 minus straight x
straight h equals 1 minus fraction numerator straight h over denominator square root of 3 end fraction space space space space space space space space space space space space space from space left parenthesis straight i right parenthesis
Solving space it space further space find space straight h space we space get space straight h equals 0.634 space km end style
